Natalie Janda finds Minden
a Great Place to Start a Business
Natalie Janda is a lifelong resident of Minden, born and raised. She graduated from Minden High School in 2000. In August of 2000, she moved to Hastings and attended Central Community College for a year where she received her certification in architectural drafting. After moving back to Minden, she attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney. For the next six years, she worked at Pedley Drug in Minden and attended UNK as a full time student. She graduated from UNK in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree.
"My husband, Brad, and sons, Dylan, age 8, and Braxton, age 5, and I currently live in Minden," states Janda. "My husband has been employed with Cargill since 1999 and is currently working in sales at the Alma location. In November of 2009, I opened my own retail store, Hissy Fit Boutique."
“As a senior in high school, I couldn't get out of town fast enough. But, now, I couldn't ask for a better place to have a business or to raise a family. My husband and I both grew up in rural Nebraska communities and feel comfortable raising our children here. The school system is great, and there is a sense of safety knowing who your child is growing up with.”
“When we chose to start our business, there was no question as to where we were going to open up shop. It was a little scary to open a retail business in a small town with major competitors less than 30 miles away. I feel fortunate to have received tremendous support from this community and surrounding areas that I may not have gotten in a large city.”
“What I enjoy most about the rural living is the quiet, laid back style of life. Although it's nice to get out of town once in a while, we have everything we need here. We know our neighbors and others in the community, and we take pride in looking out for each other.”
“I enjoy a lot of things about Minden. I think the size and population are of Minden are just right. If you need to run to the pharmacy or the grocery store, it only takes a few minutes. Everywhere you go, you see people you know and care about.”
"I think it is great to see new businesses come to town. The more we have to do here, the more people we draw in. It's great that visitors and residents can shop, eat, and see a great show at the Opera House all in Minden!"
