To Our Community:
The conditions and impacts involving the coronavirus are evolving rapidly. The situation is fluid and fast-moving, and we plan to respond appropriately as it progresses. The City of Minden is working closely with local leaders to make sure we understand the local impact this situation is creating. We are in constant contact with various entities, including Kearney County Emergency Management, Two Rivers Health Department, our local hospital, doctors, police, fire department, and our schools.
Our primary focus as a city is to continue providing essential services such as water, sewer, electricity, police protection, and fire protection, regardless of current events. As of now, all city offices remain open. Action is being taken to install and utilize the Local Emergency Operation Plan (LEOP) if needed, to ensure we are able to operate our Water Plant, Sewer Plant, Electric Department, Police Department, and Fire Department as well as taking the necessary preparations to protect the safety of our staff. All departments are encouraged to work safely. It is our goal to provide education and resources to our employees to help keep them safe, limit potential exposure, and understand the proper steps in the event they need to seek medical help.
We will be closely monitoring recommendations from the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, and Two Rivers Public Health Department, implementing their recommendations as applicable.
We feel strongly that overreaction is not the correct course of action; however, we are taking necessary actions to be as prepared as possible for this situation.
