Minden Optimists
The Minden Optimist Club, a voluntary organization of civic-minded men and women, exists to promote wholesome activities for the youth in our area. Some activities include, "Just Say No" Skating Party, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, OI Junior Golf, Tri-Star Sports, Bike-A-Thon, Bicycle Safety, Oratorical Contest, and an Essay Contest. Minden Area Sports Commission
The Minden Area Sports Commission (MASC) runs the summer baseball and softball programs. Also available for summer ball is the Lion's Club sponsored Legion Baseball and the T-ball program for children in the lower elementary grades.
Minden Senior Center
The Minden Senior Center provides noon meals 5 days per week Monday – Friday. Guests are asked to call for lunch reservation 24 hours in advance. Find out more about Senior Center's meal program. The Center provides educational programs plus hearing and foot care sessions, and blood pressure clinics. Entertainment includes TV, travelogues, music events, cards, pool, quilting, puzzles, special events. The Minden Senior Center is located at 403 N. Colorado, phone: (308) 832-2139. Kearney County Community Foundation
Since 1992, area residents have been turning to the Kearney County Community Foundation to make their charitable giving as effective as possible. The foundation has given more than $26,000 to support projects and programs within Kearney County and have awarded over $24,000 in scholarships.
